Guide
How to play Dressmaker Game
Every commission follows the same eight steps. This guide explains what each step scores and how to get an S grade.
1. Read the brief
A client arrives with an occasion, a budget and a few style tags such as professional, romantic or playful. Required tags must be met; bonus tags add to the score; disliked tags cost you.
2. Measure
Drag the tape measure to the bust, waist and hips and confirm each reading. Readings within 1.5 cm of the true value score full fit points.
3. Sketch the design
Choose a bodice, a skirt and optionally sleeves. Each part carries style tags; the preview on the dress form updates as you pick.
4. Buy fabric
Fabric is sold by the metre. Linen reads professional, silk reads glamorous, velvet reads gothic. The shop suggests how many metres the pattern needs; buying too much lowers your margin.
5. Cut on the grain
Place every pattern piece on the fabric. Pieces aligned with the grain arrow score full marks; a 45° bias cut is rewarded on flowing skirts in soft fabrics. Overlapping or out-of-bounds pieces block the cut. Less waste means a better cutting score.
6. Sew
Hold the pedal to feed the piece under the needle and steer so the seam line stays under it. Sewing assist softens your corrections but caps the seam score at 90%.
7. Decorate
Buttons, bows, lace and appliqué each add style tags and cost coins. Place them anywhere on the gown; spacing them well keeps the finish score high.
8. Deliver
The client grades fit, cut, sewing and finish, then checks the style tags. Coins, reputation and friendship follow the grade. Reputation unlocks new fabrics, patterns and decorations.
Frequently asked questions
What does cutting on the bias do?
- A bias cut rotates the pattern 45° to the grain. In the game it is scored as perfect for drapey skirt panels in soft fabrics, and you can see the fabric pattern rotate on the finished dress.
How do I unlock silk and velvet?
- Reach reputation 30 for silk and the circle skirt, and reputation 45 for velvet and bishop sleeves. Deliver A and S grade commissions to gain reputation fastest.
